With full, fragrant flowers, strong stems and an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society to her credit, Duchess de Nemours is a classic and classy white peony. First introduced in 1856, a few years before the sewing machine was invented and prior to the Civil War (think about that!), this peony still is the white that represents the benchmark by which others are judged. Tall enough to anchor the back of the border where her foliage will look fresh and provide an attractive backdrop for later bloomers, Duchess de Nemours is an excellent choice for both landscape and cut flower use. An early bloomer, good for warmer regions. Deer resistant.
