Stunning Black Bat Flower Plant For Sale | Tacca Chanterii

It comes as no surprise that Tacca Chantrieri, the Black Bat Flower is described as "the most incredible plant on earth." Exotic looking purple-black blooms with ruffled wings and long, hanging, whisker-like filaments hang 10-28 inches long, resembling a bat in flight.

Large emerald green foliage surrounds the flowers that bloom in spring and can continue into early fall. True to its name, Tacca often flowers in time for Halloween. Keep the soil well-drained with even moisture for best performance. Do not let the roots sit in water.

Instant tropical look for any shade garden

I've had this plant for six years now, and after a year of establishing itself, it's produced blooms almost year-round. It has spread out nicely; roughly five times the size it was when I first planted it. I have it located in the shade of a sloped Banana garden where it receives a lot of water but no direct sun at all. When it's in peak bloom each individual plant has between two and three blooms at the same time, making the plant one of the most noticeable in the yard at first glance. I highly recommend this to give any garden an instant tropical look, even when it isn't blooming... as long as it's in the shade and protected from frost!
