Description

Originating in Central and South America, Four o'Clocks are grown for their full bushy form and fragrant flowers. But setting them apart from other garden inhabitants is the ability for a single plant to not only produce clusters of blossoms with stripes and splotches, but also flowers of several distinct colors! Blooms open in late afternoon, hence their common name and stay open, exuding an orange-blossom fragrance, all night, making them ideal for encircling patios and porches. Tuberous roots can be overwintered indoors in colder climates.

Fast Growing!

I tried my hand with seeds a few times with no luck, but I'm so thrilled with how quickly these have grown. I bought them in May and they've already grown about 24" and are getting ready to bloom. I'm so happy with them that I ordered more to plant and share with my sisters since we had them growing around our house when we were kids.

Grew well once they got here

They took very long to get here after I ordered them. But, they are growing well. Every tuber has growth. There should be flowers in a week or so.

right on!

I have been living with 4 o'clocks these past 23 years. I inherited them at a house built in 1954 in South Florida. I have both seeds and tuberous plants. I think your descriptions and advise are right on. excellent. one bit of advise I would add is: when reducing the size of your plant, especially one with black seeds, simply break off the desired stem, walk to another area you wish to bring color, shake the seeds in the damp garden /ground and wait. next season or even sooner, you will have another 4 o'clock!
My question is: we are renovating and i must move a huge gardens, I have gathered about 40 yams i call them (tubarous pods). how do I store them 4 months until the new garden in ready for planting? I have never lived in the north. thank you.

4 o’clock tubers

I received 10 4 o’clock tubers, all looked healthy. I planted two tubers per 1 gal. pot. 8 of the 10 tubers sprouted and has good growth. I do find it strange that 4 of the tuber have a solid green growth while the others are purple tinted. Will look forward to seeing the flowers.
