Though only one out of three plants survived (all started but two just died in their infancy - all three were planted right next to each other and conditions were identical, I suspect it was too cold and the plants just started to come up), it is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL flowering plant in my yard. I had 5 huge flowers on one plant, and were very surprised by the size of them. Each was about 5 inches across, starting as a pure white bud and then opening up into the finest pink. Flowers lasted very long - 4-5 weeks!!! and started fading only when the heat wave came our way. Going to buy more as soon as they are back in stock.
Every year I order Ranunculus from ETG and every year they are big and beautiful! I decided to devote a bed entirely to the Ranunculus I order here, and it’s beautiful!
I bought several of the Italian Ranunculus for the first time last Fall. These definitely were the best performing of the lot. They bloomed in late March/early April for me in Zone 10a. These had the most gorgeous soft pastel blooms on long straight stems. They lasted forever in a vase. All the other blooms in my arrangement were spent, and I was still able to use them again with other fresh blooms. My friend thought they were petal packed rose blooms at first. Highly recommended!
This is my second year trying ranunculuses in my garden. In the first year I tried regular petticoat ranunculus ( from different site ) and they were absolutely beautiful and those made me want to try the ultimate Italian ranunculuses. These Italian bulbs were bigger than the regular ones and of course they bloomed about X2-3 bigger in size to ( especially Hanoi) . I planted couple this year, Elegant Salmon, Hanoi, Fragolino, Pon Pon Hermione, Chiaro ( this one did not do good for me only 1 out go 5 made it ), Renor ( 1 out of 3 made it ), & Rio, only couple started to flower, but I can tell these are going to be very pleasing. So far Hanoi is blooming largest and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Flowers in my garden are mostly for cut flowers and I still do not know when it is the right time to cut ranunculus to bring them in. I experienced that Ranunculuses have so many pedals, when I cut them too earl in the stage those inner pedals never get a chance to be developed, and when I let them stay too open in the sun they offer shorter vase life =/.
If easytogrowbulbs.com can kindly suggest best time to harvest these beauties that will be wonderful!
I planted the corms late October, and the first blooms are now opening mid March. The color, the form -- soooo beautiful -- I'm speechless. I've noticed ranunculus in the local nurseries every spring, and have never been impressed, but these Italian ranunculus are HEAVEN.
I bought several different types of the Italian ranunculus corms here last fall. I have been wanting to grow these for so long, but did not have a source as a home gardener. As an experiment, I started some in the fall and sought to winter them over, as I have with other ranunculus. Some I have started later this winter. Even though I grew these with protection over the winter, those planted in the fall didn't survive our harsh winter this year. This is not a criticism of the product, I just wanted to see if I could get away with it, as ranunculus like a long period to develop roots in cool weather. Perhaps they would have survived with more protection in a hoop house or low tunnel, and so I will try again next fall with greater protection. The corms I sprouted indoors over the winter and just planted outside a couple of weeks ago are very happy, and so I anticipate that those will do well this spring. Thanks so much for carrying these! I am excited to try more next fall!
