Fragrant Red Oriental Lily Bulbs for Sale | Rio Negro

Oriental Lily Rio Negro graces mid to late summer gardens with all the drama and allure that the name suggests! Deep, rich, velvety blooms cloaked in scarlet red with dark purple undertones and chocolate hearts are set off by gleaming white margins on gently ruffled petals. Oh, and did we mention this showstopper is very fragrant?! It's impossible to determine what quality causes this bloomer to stand out more - its intoxicatingly sweet aroma or gorgeous color. Either way, Rio Negro is perfect for garden beds or containers with plenty of sunlight. Enjoy!

Tallest, most fragrant, hardiest lily tree

I've always considered the Rio Negro to be the best oriental lily tree ever. Best smell, grows very tall and after 2 years, about 12 or more blooms per stalk. When multiple stalks grow from one bulb the trees are 7 to 8 feet tall, and around 30 -50 blooms per grouping, and smelling like the perfume counter at Macy's. I have only seen the Rio Negro here at Easy To Grow. I have planted several on the north side on both sides of a walkway, which gets morning sun, and it's my lily tree forest. Walking through the trees is my most anticipated gardening event all year. I have many other lily trees from many sources, but the Rio Negro is the stand out.

Tall lily, mine are in pots and came up splotchy red and pink colored

Planted in pots back in Janurary to give away, kept one for myself. They grew ok and finally started blooming in June, but the flowers are splotchy red and pink - not just red. The plant started wilting during the hot days so I moved it into shade where it's growing better. It does have a faint sweet fragrance that is pleasant. My sister sent a picture of hers when it bloomed and it's also splotchy. It's still a nice lily but deducted a star for not looking like the advertised picture. My guess the hybrid color mutated when planted in pots for some reason.
