Description

Quite literally the opposite of mellow yellow, this low-maintenance Butterfly Weed is a prized perennial characterized by blazing yellow flower clusters. Much to the delight of butterflies and bees, the sunny blossoms are produced from early summer through early fall. Plus, you can encourage even more carefree flowers by cutting back the spent blooms!

Fun Fact: Asclepias are the only plants that Monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on and are critical to their survival. When you grow a Butterfly Weed or Milkweed, you're actually supporting this spectacular species! Allow Monarch caterpillars to eat the plant and develop into butterflies.

Note: The sap is considered mildly toxic to curious pets if ingested. Plant with caution.

Grows Fast

I ordered these a month late because the first ones I ordered, from another company, were stolen from my mailbox. The butterfly weed root started spouting within a few days. It is in a sunny spot and appears to be doing just fine.

Very slow growing and still no blooms. Finally bloomed. Did not come back this spring.
