Clematis Jackmanii

Clematis (Queen of the Vines) are the most popular of all hardy climbing vines, growing up to 15 feet tall given the proper support upon which to climb (trellis, wall, fence, arbor).  They are fast growing and produce an exceptional amount of blooms.  Jackmanii  is by far, the most popular and widely grown clematis with its stunning, large 5-6” velvety purple flowers.  Look closely and you’ll see a unique and beautiful midrib running through the center of each petal.

Clematis vines want their roots shaded, and the plant growing up into full sun. That means you can put some shallow-rooted groundcover around the roots, or simply some mulch--something to keep the hot sun off the roots and promote moisture retention and flowering.  They're not hard to grow, and they get larger and stronger every year. Sometimes they take their time getting going, so be patient. It usually takes about two years for a newly-planted vine to come into its own.

Fully rooted, one-year old plant in an extra deep 3" pot.  Foliage has been pinched back for safe traveling and will produce a robust flowering plant in 6-9 weeks.
