Jim’s youngest daughter, Natalie, 2001, holding a single ranunculus bulb that produced 23 flowers on 1 plant!

Easy to Grow Bulbs is a family owned and operated company dedicated to working directly with growers around the country and throughout the world to bring their biggest and best quality bulbs and plants directly to your home and garden. It all began in a small warehouse in Oceanside, California in 2004. It has grown into an on-line store offering products to home gardeners and wholesale customers.

We search the world for the best. Premium quality bulbs and plants are sourced from Holland, Israel, South Africa, as well as domestically (we grow some really good stuff in the United States of America!). Some of the bulbs are well known to all gardeners, some are vastly under-utilized – and some are really weird (we like that!). We work hard to bring the unusual to our customers.

Our staff of knowledgeable gardeners ensures personalized attention to every customer. We offer garden solutions in the form of bulbs, perennials, potted plants, succulents and gifts. We hope you enjoy perusing our new website and find what you are looking for. While doing so, maybe you will find some new and unique items that will be beautiful in your home or garden!

Jim Threadgill is the President of Easy to Grow Bulbs and started the family owned company from scratch almost 20 years ago! He determined there was potential for offering larger and better bulbs to the home Gardner. Jim continues to work directly with growers – both the massive and the small specialty alike. Many a Saturday has seen Jim racing the sunrise to go out and pitch in with the harvest! When customers ask for a new or odd-ball item, Jim calls upon his network to find a way to meet the need. His extensive background in horticulture is based upon his own deep passion for gardening. Jim feels very fortunate to have such an incredible and dedicated team working with him and is forever indebted to the contribution that employees make every day. Between running the family business, spending time with his family in sunny San Diego, and sneaking away on fishing trips - life is good!
Maggie Threadgill works part-time helping out in customer service and new product development. Her perfect day is spent in her own garden, tending to all the beautiful plants and flower bulbs that Easy to Grow Bulbs sells! Maggie enjoys entertaining (living by the beach there seems to be a lot of company) decorating with succulents and cut flowers being one of the most fun elements of getting ready to entertain.
Dena inherited her green thumb and passion for gardening from her mother and grandmother. She shares her vast experience along with her huge heart and quirky personality with our customers by phone and by email. No question too big or small for Dena – she handles them all with style! Dena makes sure we get more than our USDA recommended daily allowance of laughter. She is a jewel!
Christina McGuffin came aboard Easy to Grow Bulbs in 2006 to manage our accounts. We soon realized she is an organizational savant! She has set up our inventory control, developed our gift production line, tracks imports, manages our accounting and in general keeps our operations running smoothly. She brings a creative flair to her gift for details to develop new products.
For years now, we have said we needed another Christina – and now in 2016 we got one! How did we ever survive without her? Christina Parker joined Easy to Grow Bulbs to handle office administration – and soon found herself pressed into service on many other fronts. There is nothing she can’t do – and well! She lends a hand to customer service, taking orders, photography, image editing and the list goes on… and on!
Elizabeth Threadgill is our Social Media Manager and token millennial. After a recent decorating epiphany made her realize how much money she could save growing her own flowers instead of buying them already cut, she has a newfound interest in gardening. She came to Easy to Grow Bulbs with a not-so green thumb that is getting greener by the week. She has never met a succulent she didn't like. When not obsessively taking photos of flowers and thinking in #hashtags she is outside soaking up the San Diego vibes, drinking alarming amounts of coffee, and planning her next trip to Thailand. Follow us on Instagram to see what she and our flowers get up to!
Kathleen placed an order online with Easy to Grow Bulbs in 2004. So impressed with the quality of product and customer service, she soon talked her way into working here! She promptly started pushing for new bulbs and plants to be added to our line (coincidentally those she wanted for her own garden) and she hasn’t stopped! Kathleen now manages our marketing and online content.
Lizbeth joined the Easy to Grow Bulbs team in 2008 and has become an integral part of our success. Hundreds of thousands of bulbs from growers around the world and throughout the country come in, to be sorted, labeled, cared for, packed and carefully packaged to fill your order and thousands more. Lizbeth started at the ground level unloading trucks, and has worked her way up to manage our entire shipping team. We are so lucky to have her!
Enrique is part of our reclaimed wood recycling project – locating and hauling in weathered wood fences and gates, saving them from land fills to repurpose them into stylish, hand built planters for your home and garden. He takes care of our many and varied plants, is our “strong man” when we need him, and turns a helping hand to the roughly 1.6 zillion things that come up in a working warehouse.
