Description

Asclepias Tuberosa (butterfly weed) is a beautiful perennial native to the dry and rocky open spaces of Missouri. Clusters of bright yellow-to-orange flowers dance atop tall stems, enticing the butterflies that give it the common name butterfly weed. Naturally tolerant and well adapted to compacted soil conditions, this stunner adds fragrance and texture to the landscape while providing an important food source for the Monarch butterfly.

Chosen as the Plant of the Year in 2017 by the Perennial Plant Association, orange butterfly weed makes a great addition to floral arrangements and is also attractive to both bees and hummingbirds. Partial to dry, well-drained soils, with long lasting blooms from early to mid-summer.

Fun Fact: Asclepias are the only plants that Monarch butterflies will lay their eggs on and are critical to their survival. When you grow a Butterfly Weed or Milkweed, you're actually supporting this spectacular species! Allow Monarch caterpillars to eat the plant and develop into butterflies.

Note: The sap is considered mildly toxic to curious pets if ingested. Plant with caution.

Better than expected

I received my order and thought “this is it?” Once planted the bare roots started growing a few days later and very healthy plants are coming up in their planting medium and are almost ready to plant. I’m impressed

Asclepia orange

I bought 2 orange plants Both are doing good slow but looking good

Bought 1 yellow Asclpia at the same time Unfortunately it did not survive.

Treated all three the same. Don't know if the yellow is more sensitive than orange. Just a bummer

Great purchase

Product got here in a timely manner. First purchase with easytogrowbulbs.com so didn't know what to expect. Great roots...now I am just waiting for them to come up so I can brag on how good they look but that will be later. Packaged and prepared nicely. I was very satisfied. Not everyday do you get the "bang from your buck" that you expected.
