Peony Henry Bockstoce

This peony is a fine hybrid that combines peony lactiflora genes from the highly revered double form of Chinese peonies and peony officinalis blood from the sturdy species native to mountainsides in the Mediterranean. The resulting plant bears double blossoms in a deep, true red, with rounded, rather than cut, petal edges for a full, soft look. This tall perennial is stately, with flowers 8-10" across and sturdy stems that rarely require staking. An American bred cultivar that's difficult to find. Deer resistant. Tremendous "wow" power!
