Chicago Hardy Fig Patio Tree

Product Description

Chicago Hardy Fig Tree | Cold Hardy Fig Trees | Ficus Carica

The Chicago Hardy Fig (Ficus Carica) is an easy to grow edible fruit tree with smooth silvery bark and unique 3-lobed leaves. Originally from the Mediterranean region, figs have been cultivated by humans for thousands of years. Now you can enjoy your own home grown figs, even in cold regions! (hardy to zone 5 with protection)

The Fig is a tropical looking tree or shrub with the ability to grow 15 – 30 feet in height and a dramatic spreading habit when planted in the garden. In addition to ground planting, Hardy Figs can be potted and thrive on your patio or porch (making it easy to pull them indoors over winter).

This high yielding fig tree produces medium sized, purple skinned figs that can be eaten fresh from the tree. If you’ve ever tasted garden grown figs, you know what a treat it is! This variety is self pollinating so one tree can produce without having a partner. Because the Chicago Hardy Fig fruits on new wood (current season's growth) cold winters won’t impact fruit production.

Fig trees are easy to care for. They thrive in full sun or dappled shade and typically begin bearing fruit within 2 years, making them a great return on investment! Once established, figs are drought tolerant and generally free of pests and diseases.

Gardening success is a shared responsibility. We assume full responsibility for delivering healthy, true-to-name plants and bulbs, along with planting and care instruction so you’ll know how to care for your new garden additions. We trust you to be responsible for planting promptly, following the cultural information provided with your plants and on our website, as well as giving your plants appropriate care.

We guarantee that the bulbs and plants you receive will be:

  • True to name.
  • The size noted on our site or larger.
  • Disease and pest free.
  • The varieties you ordered.
  • Clearly labeled so you know which bag is which.
  • Commercially cultivated; never taken from the wild.
  • Supported by detailed planting instructions.

Some of the bulbs, perennials and potted plants we offer are easier to grow than others. Every plant is a weed somewhere on earth and will be native in one of the endless micro climates, making that plant incredibly easy to grow. Because of the differing gardening conditions, we cannot be assured that Mother Nature will treat them perfectly. We make every attempt to educate our customer on how to succeed with our extensive growing instructions on our website. We can’t guarantee that you won’t get weeks of cold rain just after your spring planting, and then a freeze. The same goes for record heat, pests, etc. These things aren’t the fault of the plants and we don’t replace plants that are lost for reasons out of our control. For greatest success, please open the package immediately, inspect your purchase, and read our detailed growing guides. This is critical to robust plants that flower with profusion!

Replacements:

Customers who report damage or viability concerns within 7 days of receiving their order are eligible for free replacements at the discretion of our horticulture expert. To receive free replacements, please contact our service team with your order number, photo of the item(s), SKU #, and brief description of your concern.

Subject to availability, customers inside the 90 day window of receiving their order may request replacements. We will happily cover the cost of replacements (pending product availability); we only ask that the customer covers the shipping cost associated with the replacement shipment.
