With a staffer who loves to arrange flowers, make wreaths and create similar decorations with all things botanical, it's no wonder this plant surfaced as request. Chinese lantern plants are grown for the bright orange papery pods harvested late in the summer and into fall, just when this color is most desireable. Use fresh or dried. Always popular at farmer's markets and farm stands. Wonderful for fall arrangements. Hardy perennials, these have roots that run; keep them well mannered by repotting in a 5 gallon black plastic and then planting the whole pot in the garden. Or grow in a half barrel.
