This vibrant daylily may remind you of elementary school; the petals are that same shade of golden yellow, but are accented with orange throats and bold maroon markings. A high bud count and strong reblooming behavior win Black Eyed Susan high praise but the exceptionally long blooming period, even in northern gardens, is what wins fans across the country. Tetraploid Black Eyed Susan was bred by Don Stevens, a respected member of the daylily breeder's elite group and the namesake of the American Hemerocallis (daylily) Society's Stevens Award for eyed or color banded daylilies.
