Detailed Description

If you've driven through established neighborhoods in much of the country and spied a brilliant vine in during the dog days of summer, one with a huge number of scarlet trumpet shaped blooms, odds are that you've stumbled upon this favorite, commonly known as a trumpet vine. The flowers are 3" long with scalloped petal edges and the blooms are produced in clusters at the branch tips. Attractive to hummingbirds, these are fun and easy vines to grow, with the ability to thrive in even poor soils. This speedy grower may be trimmed to your desired size in the late winter or early spring (cut back by half if you like) or trained to climb along a fence.
