With flowers that encircle the stems in a purple whorl, this large member of the salvia clan is an impressive selection for the middle of a mixed flower border or along a fence line. Easy care and attractively framed by gray-green foliage, Purple Rain thrives in dry areas once established, so is a good choice for xeriscaping. In warmer regions, spend a few minutes deadheading after the first flush of flowers and you'll earn a second burst of blooms from mid through late summer. Deer, elk and rabbit resistant.
