The best know of the clan, and with good reason, Tropicanna canna is an outrageously colored plant, with striped foliage that rivals the electricity of any flower. The purple leaves are festooned with pink, red and green veins that fade to sunset orange. Blooms are a little smaller than most, and are well above the foliage. We have a friend who doesn't care for orange but covets the brilliant foliage; she just snips off the flowers and savors the rest of the plant's beauty. When lit from behind by the setting sun, this plant is one of nature's most stunning creations, like a living stained glass masterpiece. Note: Unauthorized propagation of this plant is prohibited.
