Belladonna Lilies
Belladonna lilies belong in every warm weather garden. With an over the top presence that's guaranteed to delight and rock hard constitutions, a few are wonderful, a dozen even better.
Like so many of our bulbs, these hail from the sun-baked fields of South Africa. They flower in summer, popping out of the hot soil and bursting into bloom in just days. This speedy growth has earned them the common name surprise lilies. They're also called naked ladies because the flower stalks precede the foliage.
Sunshine? They love it. Fussy? Not a bit, close to indestructable. Lots of blooms? Absolutely and these plants live for decades. Happy in bone dry sites? You bet. The flowers are heavily scented, too. Add a few naked ladies to your garden now and see if next summer isn't more exciting.
Note: Prices are for 3 to 5 belladonna bulbs (click on individual listing for details), all in the largest commercially available sizes.
Shipping note: Fresh belladonna lily bulbs are shipped mid September through November.
