Leucojum (Giant Snowflake and Summer Snowflake)

Giant snowflakes, summer snowflakes or leucojum . .  . whatever you know them as, these are simply terrific plants for naturalizing, for easy care spring flowers and for adding a decorator's touch to your garden.

Looking like the work of a top fashion designer, the sparkling white flower bells of giant snowflakes are festooned with pronounced green dots. These distinctive markings make leucojum easily recognizable, although in most parts of the country the plants are hard to find. Given their forgiving nature and ability to thrive in heat and cold, moist and dry conditions, it's difficult to understand why they aren't grown in every garden in America.

To encourage wider use, we're offering these bulbs in several package sizes this season, including attractive, oval baskets of 100 bulbs that make sensational, and unusual, gifts or can be shared with friends or neighbors - you're keeping the basket, right? (We have a friend who ordered a 100-bulb basket and used these bulbs as living gifts for a party she threw. As guests left, they each took a few bulbs for their gardens. Come spring, that neighborhood looked amazing. Who says one person can't have an impact?)

Shipping: Leucojum bulbs are shipped from early September through December for immediate planting.
