Chionodoxa (Glory of the Snow)

If visions of small, colorful flowers blooming throughout your lawn next spring appeals, consider chionodoxas, or Glory of the Snow. These natives of inhospitable, stony Turkish mountains are tough little beauties with the ability to shrug off spring gales, snow and dry summer conditions. All chionodoxas naturalize well and can be counted on to colonize your yard with blue, pink and/or white blooms with next to no effort on your part. For fastest spreading allow the blooms to go to seed and the plants to die back before mowing.

As with many other early blooming spring bulbs, chionodoxa are happy in full sun or light shade, and thrive when planted under deciduous trees and shrubs. By the time the leaves on the overstory players have unfurled the Glory of the Snow have finished their show.

While lovely, Glory of the Snow are not tasty, so if squirrels, chipmunks and deer are a bother in your area rest assured that these plants won't be viewed as the latest offerings on your landscape's salad bar.

Note: Prices below are for packages of 10 freshly harvested bulbs, in the largest commercially available sizes.

Shipping: Fresh chinodoxa bulbs are shipped from mid September through December for immediate planting.
