Astilbe (Feather Flower, False Spirea or False Goat's Beard)
Another stalwart of the shade garden, astilbes bloom in puffy spires of white, ivory, pink, red and purple. These sturdy perennials may be chosen for color, size or flowering time, which varies from early to late summer and lasts for several weeks. Happy in locations with moderate to generous amounts of moisture, astilbes introduce a lacy look to shady corners with foliage that is branched and serrated. Both leaves and flowers are resistant to deer and rabbits.
For color, texture and toughness for years to come, include astilbes in your garden and enjoy easy care beauty.
Plant early to mid fall in cold areas and into December in warmer parts of the country. Planting while the ground is still warm allows roots to establish before the ground freezes.
Shipping: Fresh astilbes are shipped from mid September through December for immediate planting.
