Spanish Bluebells (Hyacinthoides)
Haven't grown Spanish bluebells? You're in for a treat. These charming bulbs produce 15-18" spires liberally decorated with little flared bells. Give your Spanish bluebells time to become established and you'll eventually have big clumps that produce dozens of strong flower stems that stand up without support and look terrific with no work.
Spanish Bluebells are also one of the best flowers for dry shade, a typically challenging situation. Give them a bit of water their first season to help them settle in and they'll take care of themselves after that. Oh, did we mention that deer and most other critters tend to be uninterested in these? And that they make wonderful additions to spring bouquets? That they're lovely with ferns? That they're inexpensive and long lived. Okay, we'll stop. But they really are wonderful plants that should be more widely enjoyed.
Note: Prices below are for 10 bulbs, all int the largest commercially available sizes.
Shipping: Freshly harvested Spanish bluebell bulbs are shipped from mid September through December for immediate planting.
