Stachy Helen von Stein (Lamb's Ears) - Sale, reg. $6.95
Commonly known as Lamb's ears, these hardy perennials serve as excellent groundcovers, edgings and choices for difficult sites. There are a number of Stachy cultivars, most of which sprout unattractive spikes of tiny, indistinct flowers that must be removed throughout the season. This one just produces silvery, velvety foliage, with large rosettes of leaves and no deadheading required ever. A must for gardeners who appreciate the tactile aspect of plants; these leaves are among the softest anywhere. Outstanding mixed with bright and deep purples. Helen van Stein tolerates both damp and sandy soil, and responds well to a bit of light afternoon shade in the hottest regions. An excellent low maintenance addition to provide texture and silvery color to mixed plantings. Deer and rabbit resistant. See Image Gallery link above for more photos.
