This yellow variation of the classic red chasmanthe is named for the Duckitt family of Darling, South Africa, who have created lovely wildflower preserves in their native land. Yellow chasmanthe blooms in a soft shade that is easy to mix with other garden colors. Like the red flowering version, this plant needs no special care and will grow in unimproved soils and in areas that have been allowed to go wild. An excellent naturalizer, expect large clumps to develop over time. In warm areas, the fall rains prompt a break in the summer dormancy period and fresh foliage develops for winter enjoyment. Long, tubular flowers attract hummingbirds.
