Calochortus Violet Queen

Slender, grass-like foliage and strong, wiry stems compliment Violet Queen's soft light purple blossoms that look like small butterflies. These bulbs typically produce 4 to 6 flowers each, so just a few made for a colorful patch. Violet Queen is less fussy about soil and moisture than some others in this group, so it's a good variety to try first in your garden setting. This cultivar is partial to rocky or gritty soil and prefers a location that tends towards summer dryness. Like others in this group, Violet Queen performs well as a cut flower.
