Resulting from a cross between Japanese and native bloodlines, King of Hearts displays the best traits of both: amazing vigor, an extended blooming period that runs from late spring through early fall and much better tolerance to sun and heat than most dicentra. The common bleeding hearts go dormant in the summer but King of Hearts will continue to produce lacey foliage and heart-shaped flowers if provided with moist soil. Happiest in woodland settings.
