Variegated shell gingers are colorful perennial plants useful in the landscape for their eye catching striped leaves and fragrant, shell-like flowers. The foliage, which is striking year round, is variegated deep green and cream. Leaves are 18" - 24" long and have a pleasant, spicy fragrance. The white, fragrant flowers have golden orange throats and are borne in clusters toward the red stem ends. (See Image Gallery link above for additional photos.) This is a plant that has earned the right to be more widely grown.
