Developed by Ed Carman's Nursery in California in the mid 80's this charming agapanthus is still remarkably difficult to find. But some savvy souls have discovered it as evidenced by the fact that Summer Gold was awarded the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society and has developed a following among gardeners who appreciate the value colorful foliage adds to the year round landscape. When mature, Summer Gold clumps are about a foot tall and twice that in diameter, ideal when mixed with purple leaved viners in large containers or sited as colorful puffs along walkways.
